HALIFAX - Record earnings from its utility operations in Florida and New Mexico helped Halifax-based Emera Inc. beat analyst expectations in the fourth quarter of 2018. The division reported adjusted net income of $101 million in the last three months of 2018, up from $80 million in the same period of 2017. Emera Inc. says it earned $231 million in its latest quarter compared with a loss of $228 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Solar-related revenues are expected to be US$70 million in 2019, delivering net earnings of US$30 million.
