In the revenue allocation debate, tribalism has reared its ugly head again as divisive and destructive politics dominates conversations, polarising the nation. The ills of politics, corruption and tribalism are a manifestation of a political class that does not care about the people. Parties should feel that, even though they have not received a bigger share than the rest, the wider outlook is fair. Any sensible idea to counter the stoking of group tensions around the contentious issues such as the revenue allocation and national unity should be welcomed. Issue-based arguments founded on facts and data and not emotion, accountability not allocation, and equality not favouritism, should be embraced and applied to logically proposed formulas.
