NEW DELHI: Billionaire Elon Musk’s aerospace company, SpaceX, plans to start offering a direct-to-cell service globally via Starlink satellites starting in 2024. “Starlink satellites with Direct to Cell capabilities enable ubiquitous access to texting, calling, and browsing wherever you may be on land, lakes, or coastal waters,” according to the information on Starlink’s new website. Starlink said its direct-to-cell service will also connect Internet of Things (IoT) devices with “common LTE standards”. SpaceX aims to bring text services in 2024, followed by voice and data as well as IoT services in 2025.
