About 70 children will have to move out of their Ellerslie preschool at the end of this term to make way for a planned retirement village. Ministry officials will meet the preschool and Panmure School leaders on Friday. Pertab said Panmure District School was willing to provide space for the preschool. The site is owned by developer Tim Edney and Auckland Council designated it as a Special Housing Area in September 2014, saying it "will likely result in a new retirement village". "The spinoff that we may have from it is that we may have some of the preschool kids come on to us," he said.
