Elizabeth May staying on as leader of Green Party

Elizabeth May has decided to stay on as leader of the Green Party of Canada. The decision was quickly denounced by some Jewish groups and it also caused fierce debate inside the Green party. The author of seven books, she was executive director of the Sierra Club of Canada between 1989 and 2006, when she successfully ran for leadership of the Green Party of Canada. In the 2011 Election, Elizabeth made history by being the first Canadian Green Party candidate to be elected to the House of Commons. In the October 2015 federal election, financial reports filed with Elections Canada showed May spent more than any other federal party leader to secure her seat in Parliament.
