Eleven members of the Toronto Police Service have tested positive for COVID-19 — four in one downtown detachment, others spread out at divisions across the city. Toronto Police Association president Mike McCormack previously said some officers were concerned about the continued practice of sending two officers out per car against public health social distancing recommendations. Although unit commanders had been told to deploy as few two-officer patrol cars as possible, some were still being sent out. New, fully equipped vehicles are also being made available to priority response units to allow more officers to go out solo. The Service provide members with up-to-date information from public health officials about self-screening, social distancing, frequent hand-washing with soap, Gray said.
