NEW DELHI : Eleven Airbus 320 (neo) planes of both IndiGo and GoAir will have to be grounded, as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation DGCA ) has ordered grounding of all planes fitted with even one affected PW1100 engines.“... Keeping in the safety of aircraft operations, Airbus 320 neos fitted with PW1100 engines beyond ESN 450 have been grounded with immediate effect. Both IndiGo and GoAir have been told not to refit these engines, which are spare with them in their inventory. DGCA will continue to be in touch with the stakeholders and review the situation in due course as and when the issue is addressed by EASA and P&W,” DGCA said in a statement issued to the media today.With the order, about 8 aircraft of IndiGo and 3 aircraft operated by GoAir will be grounded immediately.DGCA last month had grounded 3 IndiGo aircraft with both affected engines but had allowed airlines to operate aircraft with one affected engine but had barred them from carrying long-haul operations (2 hours and beyond) on these aircraft.The DGCA’s order today came after in-flight shutdown was reported on three aircraft that were being operated with one affected engine.
