A herd of wild elephants were passing through under-construction canal when a tall pachyderm came in contact with a live high tension live wire and was electrocuted, said Divisional Forest Officer (Dalbhum), S Alam Ansari said. Owing to dumping at the construction site, Ansari said the gap between the ground and high tension wire shortened, which led to the incident.
