Another week of rotating school board strikes will affect elementary teachers at the Peel and Hamilton-Wentworth school boards on Jan. 31. Teachers at the two school boards will be striking Friday according to an Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) media release. The ETFO previously announced that members in Simcoe, Waterloo and Keewatin-Patricia locals will conduct a one-day strike Jan. 27. ETFO represents 83,000 elementary public school teachers, occasional teachers and education professionals across the province. The elementary teachers union has said key issues include smaller classes, better supports for special needs students, a commitment to full-day kindergarten, as well as compensation.
