ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has accused Cord and Jubilee of conspiring to undermine Kenyans’ rights through the Electoral Reforms Select Committee. On Wednesday, the Senate and the National Assembly approved the formation of the 14-member select committee drawn from Cord and Jubilee to collect views from Kenyans to reform the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and the electoral process. Mudavadi said the good faith exhibited by political parties in the committee “could be masking an insidious plot to undermine the right to elect leaders freely”. This comes as it was revealed people opposed to its formation plan to challenge its constitutionality in court. “Some elements involved in the formation of the committee, while proclaiming fidelity in streamlining the electoral system, are at the same time involved in a hidden agenda to overthrow the constitution,” he said.
