The Labour Party has had to file a second declaration of its 2020 donations after the Electoral Commission asked about whether a contentious donation was included in the party’s original return. The donation does not relate to the donation at the centre of charges laid by the Serious Fraud Office today. “On the basis of that valuation, which I shared with the Electoral Commission, the donation value was above $5000 but below $15,000,” Salmond said. The Electoral Commission wasn’t happy that the cheap rent hadn’t been treated as a donation. At the time, the commission said, “the Labour Party will be required to include its Hutt South rental arrangement in its donations returns from now on”.
