Elections: Army denies attaching soldiers to politicians in South-East


Ogbonna Casmir, EnuguAhead of the February 16, and March 2nd, 2019 general elections, the Army on Saturday said it didn’t attach soldiers to politicians in the South-East geo-political zone. A statement by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations 82 Division, Col. Sagir Musa, said the Army remained neutral and apolitical in the elections. Col. Sagir said, “Contrary to online media reports claiming that dozens of soldiers are attached to a prominent politician in Abia State, the Nigeria Army never attached soldiers to politicians in Abia or any other states in the southeast zone. “Based on this hollow allegation, the 14 Brigade and indeed the 82 Division Nigerian Army hereby restate that there is not a single soldier or group of soldiers attached to any political figure/politician in Abia State and in any other state within the Division Area of Responsibility.
