Election Commission to postpone RK Nagar bypoll over use of money power to influence voters


The Election Commission tonight cancelled the April 12 bypoll to the R K Nagar Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu over the use of money power to influence voters. After several rounds of meetings with Tamil Nadu election officials, the Election Commission decided to rescind the election notification. The Election Commission has received complaints that parties have been trying to buy voters , or are mispresenting election symbols. I-T RAIDSEarlier this week, sleuths of the Income Tax Investigation wing conducted searches in properties and offices belonging to Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar across Tamil Nadu.
