Election Commission finds no model code violation in PM Modi's Wardha speech

The Election Commission on Tuesday said it has found no violation of model code of conduct in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in Maharashtra's Wardha in which he said the opposition party was "scared" to field its leaders from constituencies where majority dominates. The Prime Minister had also allegedly sought votes in the name of armed forces. In his speech on April 1 at a rally in Maharashtra's Wardha, Modi had accused the Congress of insulting the Hindus. The Congress had complained to the EC against Modi for his speech and sought action against the Prime Minister's alleged "divisive" speech. The Congress alleged that Modi made some "hateful, vile and divisive" remarks against Rahul Gandhi.
