A joint statement of ECOWAS, African Union and UNOWAS issued on 8 December 2020 entreated all political parties, especially the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to abide by their commitments to peace throughout the electioneering period. “Furthermore, we appeal to political parties and their followers to refrain from any conduct that may undermine the successful conclusion of the electoral process. We also call on state institutions to continue to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism and transparency”.
