An elderly man has died after being hit by a car in Macandrew Rd in South Dunedin late yesterday afternoon. A police spokeswoman said the man was taken to Dunedin Hospital after the accident, which occurred between Cutten and Glasgow Sts about 4.50pm. Police today said the 87-year-old man later died at Dunedin Hospital. Police said their thoughts were with his family and friends. People on social media said yesterday the man was hit on a pedestrian crossing.
