KOTA KINABALU: A married couple perished when they were trapped in their burning home in Kampung Kinapulidan, Ranau, early today. The charred remains of Yahya Maidin and his wife, Wasiah Wakadi, both 70, were found in the living room of the house. According to Bernama, 18 other family members living in the home managed to flee in time. In a statement, the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said that it received a distress call on the blaze at 3.29am, and that a team of firefighters from the Ranau Fire Station were despatched to the scene. The cause of the fire and losses incurred are being investigated, it added.
