At 6.30 on January 15, 2016, a suicide bomber blew up an armoured personnel carrier packed with explosives at the gate of KDF's El Adde base in Somalia. Al Shabaab attacked El Adde with the same tactics and strategy used to strike other Amisom troops. El Adde was the third Amisom forward base overrun in seven months. Amisom also lacked engineering capabilities to provide sophisticated defences for troops in forward bases like El Adde, it said. El Adde caused an public outcry and demands for troops to withdraw.
