Ekniti says fiscal position able to weather crisisThe government's fiscal position remains strong and is sufficient to withstand shocks from an economic crisis, according to Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas. Speaking yesterday at the Finance Ministry's 151st anniversary, he said the ministry serves as the country's fiscal pillar, committed to using fiscal policy to foster sustainable economic and social development. The country's fiscal position must remain robust so public finances can continue to support the people, improve their well-being and help raise their incomes, said Mr Ekniti. "Our fiscal position is strong enough to weather crises. As of February, the government's public debt tallied 12.6 trillion baht, equivalent to 66.1% of GDP.
