The eight were arrested late Sunday night while stealing a cable belonging to the state-owned telecommunications company, TOT Public Company Ltd, on Trang-Palian road in Ban Khun Khupriun in Tambon Tha Kham. TOT officials who were monitoring a data centre in the southern province were alerted of a breakdown in the data cable at the location. The suspects work for M-Reach Engineering Co Ltd, which has been contracted to install power cables in Trang. Police said the workers had stolen TOT data cables seven times in the two months that they have been employed. Police said they would check and take legal actions against shops that bought the stolen cables.
