Eight of DirecTV's HD channels knocked out nationwide by 'technical difficulties'

DirecTV customers nationwide were unable to watch eight high-definition channels on Friday due to “technical difficulties,” said AT&T, the parent company of the pay-TV provider. Those channels, which include CNN and Fox News, remained available in standard definition and via streaming apps, Dallas-based AT&T said. Also, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit on Wednesday alleging that DirecTV engaged in an illegal scheme to prevent Los Angeles residents from receiving a television channel owned by the Los Angeles Dodgers. DirecTV has more than 20 million customers, including about 1.25 million in the Los Angeles region. The new federal courthouse in Los Angeles is "an unusually polished work of civic architecture."
