Eight climbers feared dead after Himalayas avalanche

An Australian woman is among eight climbers missing in India's Himalayas after an avalanche occurred during the group's attempt to reach the summit of an unclimbed peak. The eight adventurers were part of a 12-member expedition attempting to summit a previously unclimbed route up Nanda Devi East. They were led by British-based mountain guide Martin Moran, whose company Moran Mountain was posting on Facebook about the expedition. The team trekked into the heart of the Nanda Devi sanctuary "with the ambition of summiting a virgin peak", adventure company Moran Mountain said in a Facebook post on May 12. Moran Mountain posted on Facebook it was working with authorities to gather more information about the missing group.
