Eighth Green Flag for Tullamore's Lloyd Town ParkLloyd Town Park in Tullamore is one of 150 parks across Europe to be awarded a prestigious Green Flag, making it the eight consecutive occasion for the local park to be named among the list of winners. The Green Flag Award Scheme is the mark of quality parks and green space and is recognised throughout the world. Parks are only awarded for exceeding tough environmental standards in green space management and excellence visitor attractions. The Green Flag Awards are judged every year by a peer jury of green space experts, who visit applicant sites and assess them against eight strict criteria, including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability, and community involvement. Located at Cormac Street, the five-acre Lloyd Town Park, was established in 1987 and officially opened to the public in 2008, after extensive refurbishment.
