Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in Bangladesh

Muslims across Bangladesh have celebrated the Eid-ul-Fitr, their biggest religious festival, after a month of fasting. Millions raised their hands to pray for peace and prosperity after Eid congregations – or jamaats, as they are commonly referred to. The biggest of these congregations was held at Kishoreganj’s Sholakia on Monday morning as memories of last year’s unprecedented attack near the Eid grounds haunt the people. Four people, including a woman and two policemen, were killed after banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) detonated bombs near Sholakia Eid ground on July 7 last year. The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held at the National Eidgah at 8:30am.
