Eid al-adha, translates as the Sacrifice Feast, is celebrated to honour Ibrahim's obedience to God's command and his willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael. The date on which Eid al-Adha is celebrated changes every year as it depends on the sighting of the new crescent moon. This year, the new moon crescent was sighted on August 22, hence in India, Eid al-adha will be begin from today evening and end on September 2. Muslims dress up in new clothes, perform Eid al-adha prayers, and wish each other "Eid mubarak". The day is considered important for charity, and it is believed that on the day of Sacrifice Feast, no one should be left hungry.
