Egyptian prominent journalist Makram Mohamed Ahmed dies at 89


CAIRO - 15 April 2021: Former head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) Makram Mohamed Ahmed passed away on Thursday after a long illness at the age of 89. Few days ago, Ahmed suffered a health problem and was transferred to a hospital. In 1980, Makram was appointed at the head of the board of directors of the governmental Dar Al-Hilal Foundation, then the Editor-in-Chief of Al-Musawwar Magazine. In the period between 1989 and 1993, Ahmed occupied the position of head of the Journalists’ Syndicate. He was a supporter of late President Hosni Mubarak, who was toppled by the Egyptians in the January 2011 Revolution.
