Egyptian, Tanzanian presidents discuss bilateral ties, GERD dispute

The Egyptian president expressed aspiration for consultation and cooperation with the Tanzanian president to foster these relations in different fields, especially in boosting trade exchange, developing infrastructure, building capabilities and providing technical support. Hassan hailed the Egyptian support to the developmental efforts in Tanzania, especially through the establishment of the Julius Nyerere Dam in Tanzania. The Tanzanian president said this project, which is one of the biggest national projects in Tanzania, reflects the depth of the special relations shared by the two countries. Rounds of negotiations among Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia on GERD have reached a deadlock several times with Egypt blaming the failure on Ethiopia’s intransigence. Ethiopia, however, says it will complete the dam filling in July with or without an agreement.
