FILE - Hassan Kamy and wifeCAIRO – 14 December 2018: Egyptian Opera Legend Hassan Kamy died at 82 on Friday, December 14.Kamy is a unique opera tenor known for his rich Opera career that lasted for 46 years. The legendary soprano was a distinguished ambassador for Egypt who raised the Egyptian flag 1,600 times across 45 countries.He obtained his LLB from the University of Cairo and studied opera singing at the Conservatory in Cairo, at the Egyptian Academy of Arts.Later Kamy studied opera signing in Italy for 4 years. Throughout his career Kamy has performed at most of the acclaimed Opera houses around the world such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Sydney Opera House. He was honoured among the top five Opera singers in Verona.In 2001, Kamy ended his Opera singing career. During his long opera career kamy took the stage as the protagonist in 44 roles and received about six international medals.Kamy participated as in actor in a number of Egyptian such as “Zaki Chan”, “Samaa Hoss” (Please Listen), “Bobos”, “Say’ea Bahr”, among others.
