The Egyptian government aims to develop the Tahrir Complex in order to benefit from it on several levels in the heart of the capital, Cairo. According to Oxford Capital Group, a member of the winning consortium, the development plan will change the name of the Tahrir complex to “Cairo House”, turning it into a luxury hotel and a mixed-use complex. Designed by Chicago-based architect RATIO | smdp, the CairoHouse will include more than 450 luxury hotel rooms and serviced apartments, and numerous world-class dining and entertainment venues. It will also feature a large meeting and event space of 85,000 square feet, including the largest rooftop venue in Cairo. The entire project represents more than US$ 200 million to invest in the repurposing of one of the most emblematic government buildings in downtown Cairo in Egypt and the Middle East.
