Egypt now wants the World Bank to intervene in an impasse with Ethiopia involving the a huge dam that the later is constructing on River Nile, an Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said Tuesday. It was not immediately clear if the World Bank had accepted the offer to become a mediator on the issue that is threatening the relationship between Egypt and Ethiopia. The meeting came in the wake of a recent meeting of the tripartite technical committee on the Ethiopian dam. Egyptian has emphasized the need for reaching a fair deal on the Ethiopian dam saying its water rights and interests come first. Now in its seventh year of construction, The Ethiopian dam has faced a myriad of challenges but the country promises to soldier on with the project.
