CAIRO – 22 November 2020: Egypt's Health Ministry said Saturday that 358 new coronavirus cases were detected over the past 24 hours, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 112,676. In a statement, the ministry said 14 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 6,535. As many as 98 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 101783 so far, the ministry said. Egypt ranks 49th among world countries in terms of recovery rates (93.2 percent), and ranks 141st in the world in terms of total infections per one million people, (1,016 infections per 1 million). A new strain of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading among Egyptians, said Advisor to the Egyptian president for health and prevention affairs Mohamed Awad Tag el-Din on Friday evening, revealing that from 20% to 25% of the infected cases need hospitals.
