REUTERSCAIRO - 1 May 2020: The Health Ministry said late Friday that 1,021 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 227,552. In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 61 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 13,339. Medical centers that provide anti-coronavirus vaccines in Egypt will operate during the state’s official five-day holiday, announced Egypt’s Ministry of Health in a statement on Friday. As per an earlier government’s decisions, mid-week vacations are celebrated on Thursdays to give employees a longer holiday.
