Minister of Local Development Dr Hesham el-Sherif stated in a press conference on Tuesday that Egypt is currently not yet ready for municipal council elections even after House of Representatives will pass law of local administration because the country is not prepared for the implementation of a decentralized system. Sherif added that decentralization requires an agreement on a new administrative system which Egyptian governorates will be able to implement. The Ministry of Local Administration aims to form a new administrative system that focuses on providing quick and modern services that would eliminate corruption and manipulation. Sherif pointed out that Egypt needs discipline, financial control and rational governance to found a strong and modern country. Sherif added that selection committee for leadership positions will announce the results of the exams in a public conference.
