Egypt explores cooperation with Russia on childhood cancer treatment

Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed cooperation with Russia’s Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center on childhood cancer treatment during a visit to Moscow. The Egyptian health ministry said the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Healthy Life Forum in Russia, aimed to exchange expertise between the two countries in treating paediatric blood disorders and cancers and improving long-term treatment outcomes. Abdel Ghaffar said the Russian centre is a leading global institution in paediatric oncology and haematology research, stressing Egypt’s interest in expanding medical and scientific cooperation with Russia. Health ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the minister reviewed the centre’s advanced treatment approaches, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapies, gene therapy and stem cell transplantation. Officials also discussed cooperation between specialised childhood cancer treatment centres in Egypt, including health ministry hospitals, university hospitals and the Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357, with plans for reciprocal visits to exchange expertise.
