CAIRO - 6 December 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed, approved, Saturday, financial allocations for the implementation and completion of a number of vital projects related to the social and environmental dimensions, to a large extent in regions of Siwa , Alexandria and Habata. El-Saeed approved an amount of LE 69.67 million to reinforce the plan of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for the fiscal year 2020/2021 to implement the electrical supply works for the desalination plant at Habata Airport. El-Saeed stressed that all the approved sums come within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to respond quickly to demands and projects that serve citizens in the first place while providing the necessary support to state authorities to face challenges. She added that the amount approved for Alexandria Governorate comes in support of the governorate and its sanitation system to cope with the torrential rains and torrents as a result of the changes. The minister explained that the allocations directed to Siwa Oasis came within the framework of implementing the political leadership's directives towards developing the wells, water and drainage systems in Siwa Oasis to overcome the problem of salinity and agricultural drainage, as part of targeting the cultivation of 5,000 feddans.
