Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia have been negotiating over the bitterly contested Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam for years without coming to an agreement. Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia have failed to come to an agreement over the contested Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on the Nile following two days of talks in Cairo which ended on Monday. The talks were aimed at reaching a legally binding agreement that would give Egypt a say in how the dam is operated and filled. Downstream states Egypt and Sudan are worried about the effect the GERD will have on their own water supplies with both heavily reliant on the Nile.
