The Minister of Transport has received the fifth batch of new railroad locomotives as part of the deal previously signed by the Egypt Railway Authority with GE Transportation/ The deal includes the manufacture of 110 new locomotives and the rehabilitation of 81 locomotives from the current fleet, as well as, the long term supply of spare parts over 15 years , including technical support. The total cost $ 602.05 million. To date eight of the 81 GE locomotives have undergone rehabilitation.
