Egypt- Internet users decline by 7% in January


(MENAFN - Daily News Egypt) The total number of internet users declined by 7% in January 2017 compared to December 2016, from 36.37 million customers in December to 33.82 million customers in January—a decrease of approximately 3 million customers—according to a report issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The report signaled the decline in the number of mobile internet users reaching 26.16 million users in January2017, compared to 28.65 million in December 2016—a decline of 8.7% equivalent to 2.4 million users. According to the report, the number of internet USB users fell slightly from 3.38 million users in December 2016 to 3.26 million users in January 2017—a decline of about 0.78%. On the other hand, the number of fixed-line internet users increased from 4.44 million users in December 2016 to 4.46 million users in January 2017. Etisalat obtained more clients, rising from 23.6 million clients in December to 23.8 million by the end of January 2017, with 175,000 new subscribers.
