Egypt Denies Attacking Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces – Africa.com

Egypt has denied claims that its military is involved in Sudan’s ongoing conflict, maintaining that it remains neutral and focused on ending the war. The Egyptian foreign ministry issued a statement dismissing allegations made by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, head of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), that Egyptian warplanes attacked RSF positions in the Jabal Moya region on October 5. The North African country reiterated that its priority is to protect civilians and boost international humanitarian efforts. Hemedti had accused Egypt of using Sukhoi Su-29 fighter jets to support Sudan’s army in recapturing the area. The conflict between Sudan’s army and RSF, now in its second year, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced over 10 million people.
