Egypt, Cyprus to expand energy cooperation

CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah Al-Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides on Wednesday praised the steady growth of the historical relations in the recent years in all areas, particularly the energy cooperation. President Christodoulides leads a large delegation on a visit to Egypt, his first overseas trip since his election in February. He held bilateral talks with President Al-Sisi ahead of expanded talks. Both sides agreed to launch a joint business council to promote energy cooperation, notably in the gas and electricity sectors. They also agreed to implement a number of joint projects in the framework of "the trilateral cooperation mechanism," involving Greece, the spokesman said, hailing the mechanism as exemplary for coordination among Mediterranean countries.
