Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on Saturday to discuss the situation in Lebanon and Gaza. Abdelatty also spoke with France’s Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, on Friday about the situation in Lebanon and Gaza. He reiterated Egypt’s position rejecting any infringement on Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the importance of empowering Lebanese institutions, especially the Lebanese army. They emphasised the importance of a ceasefire, empowering Lebanese institutions including the Lebanese army, and implementing UN Resolution 1701. This resolution would allow the deployment of the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon and the election of a president through Lebanese consensus.
