Effects of ‘Saudization’ downplayed 914 SHARES Share it! Share TweetBy Ellson QuismorioACTS-OFW Rep. Aniceto Bertiz III is downplaying the effect of the nosedive in the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) to Saudi Arabia, saying that the deployment hike in other countries offsets this. Bertiz said that based on preliminary figures, the expected number of land-based Filipino workers deployed all over the world this year would reach 1.9 million. Bertiz however said the decline in cash remittances from Saudi Arabia is being offset by money coming from Filipino workers elsewhere. Remittances from Filipino workers in Japan also climbed 4.4 percent to $1.131 billion in the first nine months this year from $1.084 billion in the same period last year.
