Kennedy Owino gave KCB the lead barely 50 seconds into the match after connecting to Bolton Omwenga's inch-perfect cross. Lavatsa, who came on for Maxwell Ravel on 58 minutes, equalised with three minutes to time after his initial shot from outside the box hit the upright. Benson Amianda would have doubled KCB's lead in the eighth minute but missed the target after meeting Omwenga's inviting cross. On 62 minutes, Homeboyz denied their opponents a glorious chance of doubling their lead by ensuring the ball didn't cross the line.
