Edward faces rivals one last time before Rio

By - Rotorua Daily PostRotorua's Julia Edward and the rest of New Zealand's Elite Rowing Team will face their opponents one final time before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in this weekend's World Rowing Cup III in Poland. The women's single sculls sees 24 entries including 2014 world champion Emma Twigg, reserve Lucy Spoors and reigning world champion, Australian Kim Brennan. The pair finished third in the last World Cup event in Switzerland, with Edward saying the bronze medal had put "a bit of fire in the belly to move forward". This much-anticipated meet-up will be the first time Brennan and Twigg have raced each other since the 2014 World Rowing Championships. New Zealand are currently sitting third in the World Rowing Cup Series, behind The Netherlands and Great Britain, having only contested one of the two regattas so far.
