EDMONTON — An Edmonton restaurateur is hoping the city will re-examine its policy for transporting people who might suffer from incontinence. ( Ameya Charnalia / StarMetro Edmonton )The customer — a regular at the restaurant who is visually impaired — was refused service by a Disabled Adult Transit Service (DATS) driver, Phuyal said. Phuyal said the driver assisted the customer outside but would not take him home, citing health and safety concerns. Restaurant management asked the customer if he wanted to come back in, but Phuyal said the man was embarrassed and chose to sit just outside the restaurant. At around 4 p.m., after being alerted by the DATS driver, the customer’s caregiver arrived and took him home.
