Editorial: Referendum confusion is Government’s fault

Photo: Getty ImagesIrish citizens will be asked to vote on Friday in two referendums to change our Constitution. When a government proposes constitutional change, the minimum to be expected is that it properly explains why such change is necessary in the first place, and then robustly makes the case for it. The family founded on marriage means the unit based on a marriage between two people without distinction as to their sex. In either referendum, if citizens vote No, there will be no relevant change to the Constitution.
