Council tax payers in Edinburgh are being asked to fund a junket to the European Championships in Germany by the city’s Lord Provost. Lib Dem Robert Aldridge has been invited by the Mayor of Munich to be his guest at the opening match between Scotland and Germany and glittering opening ceremony on June 14. As the Mayor of Munich is providing accommodation for the party of two, the cost of the three-day trip has been limited to £1400. The MSP has already been abroad three times this year and represented Scotland at Tartan Week in New York last month. The Scottish Government said the costs of Mr Robertson’s Munich trip – along with a number of officials – will be declared later.
