Nineteen years after he mysteriously left the 2007 Oscars early, Eddie Murphy is finally clearing the air. At the 79th Academy Awards in 2007, Murphy attended as a Best Supporting Actor nominee, his first, for his role as James "Thunder" Early in the critically acclaimed musical Dreamgirls. Soon after Arkin's acceptance speech, Murphy left the venue for the night. The film was nominated in eight categories, including Murphy's best supporting actor. It won for best supporting actress for Jennifer Hudson, as well as best achievement in sound mixing.
