Ed. Ministry seeks public comments on proposed Education Council

Ministry seeks public comments on proposed Education Council View(s):The Education Ministry has called for public opinions on the report of the committee appointed to make recommendations for establishing an Education Council. The objects of the Sri Lanka Education Council (SLEC) shall encompass four areas, including rules, quality assurance, accreditation of programmes and institutes, and licensing of education professionals. There hasn’t been a council like this that’s set to encompass all sectors across the education sphere,” Deputy Education Minister Madura Seneviratne said. He added that the proposed council will be an independent body functioning within the Education Ministry, and that its model will be similar to the Sri Lanka Medical Council, which regulates the medical profession. The full report of the committee appointed to make recommendations for establishing the SLEC is available in all three languages on the Education Ministry website.
