Ecology projects at Waikato District Council

Grants for work at Lake Waikare mean Waikato District Council is planning to build a walkway and plant native species. Lakeside walkways and native plantings are part of upcoming ecological plans at Waikato District Council. Previous work at Lake Waikare, near Te Kauwhata, has led to a grant of up to $145,000 from the Waikato River Authority and a further $25,000 from Trust Waikato. Work on improving Lake Rotokauri, northwest of Hamilton City, has made council a finalist in the Society for Ecological Restoration Australasia awards. "We're proud to do this work on behalf of the people in the district and hope everyone can enjoy these natural treasures in the years to come."
